- Objective: Understand how to analyze the central idea of an informational text.
- Instructions:
- Review the concept of central ideas in informational texts. The central idea is the main point or argument the author is trying to communicate.
- Discuss the structure of informational texts (e.g., introduction, body paragraphs, conclusion) and how ideas develop from one paragraph to the next.
- Read through an example of a short informational article as a class. Discuss the central idea and how it is developed through the article.
- Choose an informational article for the Unit (either from the teacher’s selection or one approved by the teacher). Start reading the article.
